Apartement building
2017–2022
New construction
30,753 sqm
The shape of the site to be occupied by this residential tower block on the Donauplatte in Vienna was determined by analysing diagrams of the shadows cast by the neighbouring high-rise buildings during the course of a day.
The small apartments that were to be laid out within the irregular outlines of the plot were intended primarily to cover the housing needs generated by the nearby UNO City.
The modular structure of the facade is determined by elements that incorporate not just the window openings but also sliding shutters that provide protection from glare or sunlight. These shutters can be operated individually by the residents of each apartment, creating a highly differentiated appearance within a very regular overall facade system.
